I started a thread by mistake titled FCRs.
I was interested in fasrnus help on the FCR on a stock engine with an M4 exhaust. He stated that the ticket was a 35FCR with a 140 main jet.
I put an M4 on my Baghira and had a local mechanic install a dynojet kit so I could make the Moto GP event at Monterey in California with my brother as a birthday present (cool brother!). I made the event but the bike sucked!
I've gone onto the internet and can only find FCRs for Yamahas Raptor Quad which doesn't really tell me what I need to assemble in parts before I tear into the bike.
If I have to so be it...
I've seen pictures of your bike and they show stock intake and exhaust. I know that you folks build lots of race stuff from what I've seen, I just need to get my Baghira to a starting point and ridable.

I'll put the word around the Supermono guys and see if i can find you a good second hand set of carbs buddy. Then we can take it from there! New will cost you a small fortune! I will see whats around and drop you a line.

I look at the pictures of the stock carbs and the manifolds size where the carbs attached to the manifold?
Then I look to some of the web sites, including this one that show the FCRs and see that both of the manifolds sizes where the carbs attach are the same size. The carbs that I'm looking at are for the Raptor Quad (FCR 35s) and are sick expensive. I live in one of the most expensive places in the world only because my family line can be traced back to the 1800s and the folks around here kind of like me (And tolerate me, "A Hooligan old fart", very rare!) sweat hearted folk! And lots of stories...
Time is not my friend and I'd like to know what are the parts that allow FCRs to be bolted to the Baggi enigines head? Even if the carbs are new Gaaaaaaak!
Haven't heard anything from fasrnu about the forks or his installation of the FCRs and the needed components:-(
I just got my '03 USDs today Yeeeeeee Ha!!! The fellow that sold them to me and the Tag upper at a gift price. I don't have words!!! He has no idea what it means to me!
I'm cleaning up the parts and getting them ready for installation.
I figure that this one's the last I'll build and I'm going to make it cool, make it right!!!

Keihin carbs are actually manufactured to fit almost anything. Generally the machines body mounts are set the same but as the cones go up in size the port at the back of the carb is machined larger. There are so many interchangeable parts available. The carbs are supplied from SUDCO in the states so you should be able to buy them cheaper in the states than over here in Europe. The carbs are made for all types of race performance and the best ones to use on the Baggy are the 39mm FCR's. They are expensive but you will notice top-end performance increase, big time. You can bolt these carbs together for inline fours, etc. They are an amazing bit of kit and will enhance performance on anything on wheels, or not, as the case may be. I am searching for some over here buddy, so fingers crossed!

Their Phone # is: 978-897-0044. Ask for Galen and tell him you want 140 mainjets and not the huge ones that were in mine. I think they were 165's and they were way too big.

As far as the forks are concerned; what do you need to know?

I've got a Tag lower on the way to match the upper that came with the 2003 YZ forks. What was necessary to adapt the Baghiras wheel and after market brake system? Spacers, brakets...
I'd hope to have everything ready if possible to minimize down time.

I laced a 17" BEHR rim just lke the original to a YZ hub and simply used the YZ caliper and an aftermarket 320mm rotor with adapter. The YZ caliper mated to the Baggy brake line perfectly. I also used the standard YZ axle and spacers. Everything pretty much just bolted together. I chose to use a new rim in order to keep all the stock baggy parts unmolested in case I ever want to sell them or the bike.

Understand the thought of preserving the parts as original. I've seen some Baghira owners cut the rear subframe for the cleaner Baja Designs kits, but I can't go that route. I'd have to purchase an extra or like Wonkys track bike Tig together an aluminum replacement.
Did you ever take any measurements to compare the YZs components to the MZs? That information would be invaluable, as the local Yamaha dealer probably doesn't have those kind of items in stock. I'll have to check.
Anyway, the direction you've suggested makes alot of sense.

Well it's started, on Monday the bike was taken off the road and stripped, back ends being chopped about and we have managed to line up the link-pipes and headers for the two into two system. All is looking good! Had yesterday off work as the candles burning both ends and nearly met in the middle. I'm juggling day job, Graphic Design business, Social life and this project, it's all crazy and to top it off i've got the dredded Flu lurking, but a nice damn hot Chicken Curry last night smashed that into line for now, can't say my ass is happier for it though!

oh...so the pommies have learnt that, ey, about chillies. i suppose so, by now. i grew up on it; there're more than a million indians here ini Durban.
but it's the chillies, anyway, not the curry as such. get a bunch of fresh green chillies and put them in a jar and cover with vinegar. leave them about 24 hours. chow those with the curry - or whatever, they're good with cheese sandwiches. but for a head cold - a couple of those blast it out.

ring burn... ..i've only had ring burn once or twice in my life. afaik, it's the chilie pips in dried red chillies that do it.

LMAO! Excellent stuff that Curry ya know. Yep i do indeed enjoy the old Indian food. Good skills with the peppers n cheese sarnies, i'll have to give that a blast sounds painful, right up my street!
