TS250 Kickstart Spring Tension

The kickstart appears to have no tension on the spring - it hangs down loosely.

How can I re tension the spring - is there a simple method?

Don't thing the spring is actually broken tbh?

Just 'acquired' the bike (TS250/1 - 1977 model) and it would seem the previous owner, for whatever reason, removed the kick start hence the 'no tension' thing, just wondering if there is a way to re tension without removing the casing?

Be nice to try and get it running etc as you can imagine!

Casing has to come off.
Get a side cover gasket ready just in case the original breaks.

Doesn't take long to do.

Is that 'tensioning the spring link' you sent previously the right one - cant see it being done?

Nice one, all done now - kicks over nicely!

Bike now running, albeit very roughly, 1st time since '82 I think - remarkable! Carb off next for a clean out I think.

Shall I restore fully, partially or 'oily rag' it - decisions decisions! :D

Oily rag it, get it ridden and shake out any problems.
