I've always found this to be down to corroded terminals, so I suggest that you replace with new.

at the horn
also the horn has a contact in side that gets dirty over time
some horns can be taken apart and that contact cleaned
some can not be taken apart

Be a good idea to clean all your earth (ground) points too.

Had the battery on trickle all night, and all works fine now,i've cleaned the horn contacts for good measure, looks like i could do with a new battery though. Thanks for all the advice.
ps ...just as a matter of interest, went for a ride this morning and it seems to go a bit better (more power) than it did before i charged the battery, why would this be?

It's probably down to a better spark, giving a cleaner burn of the fuel.
