MZ/MuZ Riders

Over the winter months, I'm planning to strip down and completely refurbish the ETZ.

I would like to create a record of my experiences on here, maybe to help others along the way, ask for advice myself and for anyone interested to add their own comments/thoughts etc.

What do you think - good idea or not? Let me know!

Probably start with a few pics and see how it goes from then on - this is the beast as of now!

I think that would be a good idea. I'm trying to get mine started, but have stalled. Always interested in other folks work.

looks like a good one to do a restore on ...does not look to have been thrashed and trashed

bikes where i live ....usually are trashed and do not even make good parts bikes after about 15 years

Hi that's a great idea, I must say it looks like a good one already so don't over do it. There's a very active group of MZeders in and around the West Midlands who are always a good source of information and help if need.

Well, had a couple of days on the spanners and here is where I'm at:







Scary eh - just a big box of bits n that.

Now, a couple of questions hence the two latter pics:

1. How do you remove the steering lock as I have no key and need it to be removed for when the frame is powder coated?

2. Likewise, what is the easiest way to remove the swing arm bushes and ultimately refit new ones?

Right, steering lock removed intact without issue but still no key!

Suppose I could buy a new steering lock set but it seems a shame for the sake of a key - is there any way to identify it (there are some markings on the barrel) and maybe obtain a replacement key?

Surely someone has encoutered this beforehand>

Big day yesterday, had all me black bits acid dipped and powder coated - needless to say I am well chuffed.

When the sun rises again (hopefully tomorrow but I don't like to make assumptions!) I'll put up some pictures of the Saxon Tour I collected last weekend, now there's a bike that needs restoring!

Done a bit of bolting up today:

That's gorgeous. Looked good before to be honest, but fresh black powdercoat can't be beat. Hopefully going to do a similar job to my ETZ over the next few months. Source a new motor and then right down to the frame and build it up for winter commuting and green laning (Considering a sidecar and snowstuds for winter funtimes)
