engine number

I have a 30 year old ETZ250 must be one of the first, its engine-not known if original- has a large G after the engine number, I have other engines and bikes but none of them have any letter at all. some have a small letter but away from the engine number, a casting mark?

I know some engines have a letter for sidecar engine but this is not a G any ideas?
