TS 125 Top Speed

Postby Rich_MZ » Sat Aug 20, 2011 7:18 am

Hi all ,
My TS125 (1986 Alpine) will only do about 55MPH flat out.
Its a well looked after bike , starts first time ( I have fitted an electronic reg to make things a lot lot better on the electrical front) , so before I start looking at the fuel / timing set up I would be interested to hear what others have had out of their 125's .
Also what front sprocket do people run with , mine has the standard 14T which to me seems a little "short" as the bike revs out very quickly in the first 3 gears.
1st is 0 - 10ish MPH , 2nd is 10-25ish MPH , 3rd is 25 - 42MPH and 4th is 42 - 55MPH .

Thanks in advance Rich

Hi Rich,

I'm afraid I know nothing about the TS 125 but the manual states 60km/h,

Hope this helps.

its a low power 2 stroke single.....

55mph isnt too bad in my opinion.....
thats the sort of speed I used to get from 125cc 4 strokes.....

there are ways to improve the top speed, but they may (or will) sacrifice the bottom end power....

a larger front sprocket is probably the easiest initially....

you could see about getting a 'tuned' exhaust (expansion chamber), for it....
it will move the power up the rev range a little, which may help......

clean/replace the air filter (if you havent already) can make a noticeable difference on any vehicle.....
