MZ/MuZ Riders

Those who followed my engine rebuild thread may be interested in this update; since the rebuild I have put about 500 miles on it. Yesterday I entered the bike in the Highland Classic Motorcycle Club, Loch Ness Rally. This was a good test of the engine as I completed around 150 miles over various terrain including steep mountain roads and and overgrown back lanes.

The bike ran great and gave no issues at all however it did seem to use more fuel than expected but this could be down to battling high winds and steep climbs. I'm reluctant to do anymore as it's running so well, checked plug after and no fouling and a good colour so figure it's set up now as good as it can be. Overall i'm extremely happy with it so well worth the time and effort.

Would love to get into some trailing myself on my '79 Suzuki TS185ER. HOWEVER, those wild planes indeed look like they could be very windy if the conditions were right.. Ah yes, it could be mighty cold.

Glad you've got your engine sorted, and 500 miles is a good run in time to determine if you've assembled something improperly, therefore- if it works and well then you can consider it a job well done!

As for fuel consumption, i've not had a 125 or 150 model so cannot comment, but you a member of fuelly.com ? There are some 125/150 models on there you can compare with. It looks like 80mpg average seems a good figure, but of course we all have bad economy days.. Whether it's the weather, or simply your own right hand. My own 'garage' is on this page:
