Resurrection Man

Postby CharlieCeng » Sat Jan 25, 2014 2:47 pm

Well, i'm relatively new to this forum and to MZ's generally. My sone has restored a Neval and a TS125, and is collection parts for another TS125; I have his TS250 in my garage, which I am quietly resurrecting in between workin on my Ariels.

I have an extensive blog running alongside my Square Four restoration, which has a fair bit of stuff common to all old bikes, and the TS has a page all of it's own with some pictures showing how we are getting on.

So, I'd like to throw myself on your collective mercy with all sorts of questions. Here's the first one. What is this?

Here's the second question.

Where can I get a key for my steering lock? I guess I can get the lock out if I remove the rivet holding the moving cover, but will I be able to replace the cover?

Hello

You will not get a key, only a complete lock.
You can re-install the cover by using a screw instead of the rivet.
And there are new covers available, but not cheap (9 Euro).

Folks, looks like the engine will need new crankshaft oil seals. Am I right in thinking that this can be done without splitting the cases?

If it is a TS 250/1 engine with 5 gears, then you are right. But you need a clutch extractor to remove the clutch.
And the black part on your first question is a part that is put onto the locking key to help locking the bike more easily.
