My ETS250/TS hybrid

Some of you may have read about this bike already as I have had a variety of "interesting" issues with it but seeing as I am very excited tonight - I got it to run (almost) properly and took it for a little test ride (on private roads of course!).
The bike is a 1973 ETS 250 that I was given last year. I still can't believe my luck with that one! The only problem was that the crank had gone awol whilst being repaired and a few other engine bits have gone missing over the years it was in the last owners shed. Having hunted around for a decent ETS or ES engine and failed, a good TS 250 engine came along so this has been fitted into the frame after my friend had welded up some brackets on the frame down tube so it would be secure. It's still very much in progress but I'm really pleased that I have had it riding tonight. Here's some pics

if the rubber chain covers fit up it will be good
and the welding on the mounts looks very good

glad to see an old daily driver coming back to life and use
it will always be a work in progress

By fitting the engine to the frame without any damping rubbers you loose the damping characteristics and the vibrations will go directly into the frame.
It would have been better to make another thread on the bottom of the engine for the metal that is connected with the 2 square damping rubbers below the engine.
I have had an ES 250/2 sidebar with a 5 gear TS 250/1 engine for many years with only one thread for the metal part without any problems...

Yes , ideally I would like it be rubber mounted but welding a boss on to take the silentblocs would involve stripping the engine, which I don't really want to do unless it's neccesary due to problems. I have ridden it a little bit now and to be honest it doesn't really vibrate much anyhow.
Also - when I can find a decent 4 speeder engine that is cheap enough (!!!) then I will be fitting one to try and make the bike a bit more original.
in the meantime I'm hoping to have it in the road for the Carrog rally at the end of June - which means tidying up wiring, fitting better cables and tyres and improving the brakes. Not difficult jobs but all down to the old finances.
