MZ Skorpion Project Bike

I have been told by a member of another forum I post in that this is the place to ask any questions about MZ motorbikes, but first let me introduce myself:

Hello :-D

Now, I am considering buying a 3 or 4 year old MZ Skorpion but before handing out any cash I have a few questions :

- Whats the general reliability like?
- How easy are spares to obtain (in the UK)?
- Is there a service manual available for the bike?
- What issues should I look out for when looking at potential bikes?
- Is the bike home servicable (i.e. does it needs specialist tools)? I am looking at the basics here, for example fork seals, oil & filter replacement, chain adjustment, cam timings, valve clearances, brake servicing etc)
- Does anybody have a spec sheet for the stock bike?
- I have just noticed that the front brake is a single disc setup, on a 660cc engine is this enough for when the anchors need to be deployed?
- I am under the impression that the stock bike delivers around 50bhp, is this value correct?
- What is the power delivery like (i.e. comes in random chunks, or smooth throughout the entire rev range, flat spots etc).
- Would the bike work as a commuter bike? Or is it more of a weekend blat machine?
- Does the suspension have any adjustment in it?
- What is the petrol consumption like?
- Riding position? Upright or sports feotal?
- Anything else I havent thought of?

If all goes according to plan I may be around here more often as I am currently considering buying an accident damaged bike as a project, the specifics are :

1999 Skorpion Sport 15000 miles, Running engine
Currently needs :
- New headlight
- New mirrors
- Right hand side indicators
- Tail light lens
- Full exhaust system
- General cleanup (including repaint on some plastics)

Not confirmed yet, but it sounds like the bike has had a right hand side drop at medium speed.

All in for £695 (approx 1,307.23 USD)

It seems like an acceptable price (will try and haggle for less), any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance
