MZ/MuZ Riders

Thanks Rodge for introducing your Baggi to mine - it's never seen another one in the flesh since its been with me!!! Was great being able to compare bikes... and you even got to take mine for a spin!! (tis nice to know it rides well)

Thanks for loan of the clock/speedo until I get a new one sorted. All fitted and tested it with the satnav -reading alot closer than my old one was - thank you. Now, how long will it be until you have a new sprocket fitted - so yours rides like mine??




It's good to put a face to the name, would be so nice to meet other MZ owners - maybe we could start something up in our part of the world?? Sounds like you have a couple on your doorstep Rodge. Would anyone like to meet up sometime in the South of England??? Or is there an event that MZ owners usually go to?

hi sue,no probs and,yep off to grahams if they have stock this week .on the way home noticed the difference in the gearing on mine straight away,revs out very quickly compared to yours.cheers

Hi Sue.I`m in Bath,just down the road.I`ve owned a black Mastif for the last four years now,and actually met Roger earlier in the year(Rest a while cafe,Keynsham,if you remember Rog)My Mot has just run out,I need a pair of tyres,my battery has just died,and lookin at the summer weather(!)That might be it for this year!I`ve got my Pampera to keep me sane over the "wet" months(oh yes Rog,trail riding some time)but yes i would be good for us all to meet up.

Like you I don't get to see many MZ riders up here. What is the interesting looking seat on the bike at the rear in the photo. Looks more comfortable that the standard seat, is it?

@stu,thats sue's bike.met up with her to try seat for idea's and yes,way more comfy than the standard seat from my go on it anyway,so now have a few pics and measurements as i have a spare seat for modifying.
hi martin,course i remember,thought yours may have been the only one then my neighbour buys a baghira now two in the same street mz125 is sat on the back burner for now,used it the other day for a blast round with some friends who have recently passed there tests,to be honest i realy should go out and buy a rear sprocket blank,machine it,fit it and bloody use it,infact i may make that my deed for tomorrow,cheers

Would be great to meet up, seems there are some more of you out there! Maybe we can find a time we are all available and somewhere to meet up for coffee and a chat.

I've just returned from Cornwall for a bike rally with my local bike club. Unfortunately the Baggi had to be recovered by the RAC 40 miles short of Lands End. Mind you this is my 4th touring trip in a couple of months and have clocked up a few thousand miles in the meantime.

Was on the A30 dual carriageway, having had no problems atall. We'd recently stopped for fuel, and a guy on a TL1000 broke down after his bike letting out a huge backfire! A few miles later mine did the same!!! It died first, dropped a gear and let out the clutch, and it came back to life... with an earsplitting bang ... woke up everyone around me, and myself too! It was then incredibly loud and didnt sound right at all. I'm hoping its just the exhaust seal on the manifold and nothing more serious. It ran ok to the first convenient stop (just happened to be a service station) and as soon as I stopped and turned off it dumped water everywhere pushed it off the forecourt and let it cool. On checking it had only lost a small amount of water, presuming it boiled over and was coolant from the overflow. Topped up the radiator, and had a thorough look round, couldnt see anything leaking from anywhere. It fired up ok first time, but the was really loud and sounded very metal on metal. As no one there was particularly mechanically minded I decided to play safe and not presume its something harmless.

This was at 3pm in the afternoon. Spent hours waiting for recovery as it was their busiest day of the year. eventually was recovered to the edge of the next area where I was told someone would meet with another truck and take me to a friends house in Andover (with a workshop and a promise of assistance). Unfortunately it wasnt my lucky day, and that truck broke down. So the very nice chap decided to pull out all the stops, got a lift back to base (leaving me on the roadside) and aquired the boss's BMW and bike trailer. So travelled in style to my friends house. Bless him, he had to drive me home (another hour) in the early hours!! Finally got home at 2.30am!

As I had this trip planned for a year, and booked leave from work I wasnt going to miss out. So was up again at 4.30am, repacked, loaded the CBR, and attatched the satnav - was back down there in time to join the planned trip touring the coast roads. No time to get to the camp though and unload. Was an interesting weekend, and was labelled the most insane (hmmm wonder why?). Well worth being knackered and slept like I was dead that night LOL.

Now just waiting for the diagnosis. Really hoping its just a simple seal. If not an engine rebuild is on the cards
