Gas Mileage for Skorpion Tour?

Postby J-Ball » Thu Jun 12, 2008 11:35 am

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what a '00 Skorpion Tour might get mileage wise. I got 41mpg on my first tank but I know I was having carb issues and hope to get even better. I believe I only got about 150 miles on a full tank and thats dipping into the reserve pretty good. Thanks.

Now those numbers sound better than my measly 41mpg. I'm still working out some kinks in my Tour. Do you run 87 octane or higher? Is your 60-65 mpg going 70ish or slower? Thanks for the in-sight.

I run 98 or 95 unleaded and when riding the highway I sit on around 100-110 Klm/hr(60-65mls/hr).Tyre pressures 28psi fr.36psi rear. Gearing 16t fr. 43t rear. Tyres 110/70 fr.150/70 rear. If you start opening the throttle too wide the second stage of the carb kicks in and fuel consumption really starts to go up. Fuel consumption really depends a lot on how quickly and hard and long you have the throttle open. My economy is sometimes better when 2 up with my daughter, as I tend to be a bit gentler with my acceleration out of the corners and through the bends.

J-ball,
I think the UK has a little larger gallon, imperial gallon

But price it per liter,it,s all very complicated :?
You're just left with yourself all the time, whatever you do anyway. You've got to get down to your own God in your own temple. It's all down to you, mate.

Sorry, forgot about the difference between the gallons US/Imp. After redoing my calcs Iam getting Miles / US gallon, which should work out to about 175miles to reserve and about 35 miles after switching over. Too damn confusing all these different measurements.

Wow, that is confusing. 50mpg is still pretty good. I'd be happy with that. I ask b/c I'm planning on using the Tour as a daily commuter with about a 60 mile round trip commute. That's much better than the 17mpg that my Toyota 4Runner gets! Lately (because I'm so stingy with the little amount of $ that I do have) I've been driving the 4Runner 60mph and I get a whoping 18.5mpg. Quite amazing how slowing down 10mph gets you 2.5 mpg better. I told a friend of mine this and he's getting almost 7mpg better by slowing down 10mph in his Dodge truck. I have a new saying I yell at everyone who passes me on the highway......"QUIT DRIVING LIKE GAS IS FREE YOU PUTZ!!!!!!!" (except I don't say putz, I'm just trying to keep the forum PG)

SAVE GAS, DRIVE SLOW! or RIDE YOUR MOTO!
