Well, this might not be directly applicable, but I have a Holeshot can on my Baghira (replaced header & can, rejetted carbs with tunebike kit).

Here are a couple of things I've found that might be applicable to the same can on a Skorpion:

1. It's heavier than I expected it to be. I have the stainless steel version, and I was surprised that the savings in weight over the stock SPAM can wasn't that great. I believe Holeshot is also making a carbon fiber version now, so that might be something to consider.

2. I was unsure I'd want to put up with an increase in noise using the aftermarket exhaust setup, but I have to say that the Holeshot wasn't too bad. It strikes just the right balance of low-end growl with a manageable increase in overall noise.

Hope that helps. It seems that the Holeshot folks have been making a Skorpion version for long enough that they should have them pretty dialed in. I'm still trying to tune mine (mostly because I've done the carb kit, headers and can all at once, and also because I suck at tuning bikes), but I like the extra power I've already felt.

As for quality, it may be heavy, but overall quality is great. The materials and build quality seem to be excellent.

Cannot speak to the Holeshot, but on my Traveller I've just taken off the M4 that came with it. I found it entirely too loud. The bike has been rejetted and "we did some other things as well", but I don't know what all that was.

What I found to put on it is a Super Trapp. It's brushed stainless and about the same weight as the M4. I have no idea what the original even looks like, much less weighs.

In terms of tuning, I began with six discs, finding that it ran quite rich with a bad flat spot at 5,000rpm. Adding two discs completely took care of all driveability issues. It now idles smooth, has no backfiring, hesitation or flat spots at any rpm, from idle right up to 7,000 under light or heavy load. The throttle response is much more linear than before as well, as with the M4 it seemed almost like an on/off switch. It's a bit louder than I'd hoped, but much quieter than the M4.

Sorry I cannot compare the Trapp to stock or Holeshot, but thought I'd add this experience to the thread since the Trapp system is tuneable and you can probably hit just the right setup without having to fiddle with the carbs.

Good luck getting an exhaust.

Your main benefit will be noise.

If you want performance then headers are required.

The body of the Holeshot muffler is aluminum. The endcap is stainless, as is the mounting hardware. It would definitely weigh a lot less than a Baghira muffler, but, seeing how I've never dealt with a scorpion exhaust, I don't know how much weight you'll be saving. Holeshot makes a lot of really quality exhaust equipment for Bandits, ZRXs, FZ1s, SVs, and such, so I can't imagine their exhaust for the MZ would be anything but top notch.
I do recall their Bandit 1200 slip-on being a bit on the loud side, but it's a good, throaty loud, not the "I have a wastebasket on the end of my Honda Civic" loud.

Dale's place is about 20 miles down hwy 1 from where I live. If you'd like to upgrade my Baggy with one of his Holeshot unit's, I'd be happy to test it out, take some MP3's of the db level for you, etc. All you have to do is buy the can for me, and I'll let you know what I think. I mean, you know I'm here to help out a fellow MZ-er, right? ;)

Seriously, Dale makes some great equipment--be sure to check out the video's on his website. He's got short video's of the Bandits, FZ1's, SV's, etc., and a particularly QUICK bike on there as well (you'll know it by the title)...
