01-05 raptors have the same engine. i dont think any of them are EXACTY the same as an MZ motor. my 01 raptor has a spin on oil filter and my 02 street moto doesn't. i havent realy compared the two side to side. i bought the mz in december and it has been too flipin cold and snowy to spend much time in my unheated barn.

I think bore and stroke and the basic architecture of the cases are the same. My MZ and my raptor are at my weekend house, and I will try to put them side by side as it is supposed to be above freezing this weekend. I wont be getting that crazy with mods to my bike as I bought it as a stopgap till I can afford the bike I REALLY want (BMW GS adventure) and once I get that, I will give the my to my partner. She got her cycle endorsement last year.

The 5-valve Raptor engine is basically the same.
cams, valve springs, pistons to 102mm, all fit
104 and 105mm Pistons need a new larger liner or a new barrel with Nikalsil coated sleeve.

The Raptor cranks fits as far as the casing is concerned but the flywheel stub is different. You need the flywheel/generator etc to go with it.

Pistons from JE , Omega, or Wiseco
Cams only from Megacycle

NOT a Megacycle!

springs only from Kibblewhite or RD

this is what happens with "noname" "racing" springs.
And while we are looking at this photo, the Ti retainers are worthless. You can see that the valve stems are not recessed; they are just as in the stock setup. Racing springs are harder, on the contrary, they are for more lift and must be longer the retainers are recessed, to accommodate for the longer springs.
These springs actually blocked up with the noname "racing cam" the owner had installed, supposedly a stage 2 but with even more lift than a Megac. stage 4.
Both parts probably "Hotcam" but the dealer he got the junk from wouldn't divulge. Money down the drain.
In another similar case with "racing" parts

The springs didn't break, the top of the valve tore off due to the springs blocking.
Money down the drain.

Don't get me wrong; I am not arguing against tuning parts as such.
I have been running a Megacycle stage 2 in the street engine for thousands of miles, and 10 years and that with the stock springs and valves and with a 8400rpm CDI. Absolutely no problems at all.
Just warning about low-priced parts. You get what you pay for - and if you don't, it's your own fault.
Cheap parts are by far the most expensive.
