Right guys(and girls) after all this time i have finally started the proper spacer kits to fit the YZ250F forks(01-06 Models ONLY!).

Col, your chassis will be ready VERY soon!

I am starting another Baghira project with the same forks as Whysub as a starting point. To make the conversion work correctly we have sourced some good bearings and are going to make kits with bearings and spacers for you to drop a set straight into your chassis. Only issue you will have is making front caliper bracket(not rocket science). I'm not exactly sure on cost yet as i need to know WHO, if anyone, is seriously interested in buying the kits as i will have a batch made which will bring costs down. I'm awaiting the first set to be finished to make sure they are going to work as they should, usual prototype procedures! Once we are happy, production will begin.

So WHO is SERIOUS about having a set? They will not be massively expensive but i need an idea before i have them made,i won't hold you to it if you say "me" but please don't say your interested just to feel like your "fitting in" if you catch my drift!

I've been waiting ages for this to happen...and start the new bike off...and get Whysubs chassis finally ready for him...although he works too hard and never has tiome to play any more!!!!

By the way...our new Dynapro Dyno is installed and is awesome...anyone need a power run or set-up if your down this way them pop in!

Hey wonk, I have a question. Why YZ250F forks only? Frome the way I know it yz forks are all the same as regards models but are different according to the year. There is 99-03, and then there is 04-07 as far as i know.

Mark, feel REALLY free to correct and or add comments, please. My posts are intended to offer support to help (God I hope) for this forum with the formal understanding that I know a small amount as to what this community has to offer...
Let me step in and make clear some statements.
I've mentioned the different years of the forks that Yamaha has offered and note that I've stated the information is about that tuning of the forks and the cost relative to the year of production as I understand from a friend that has YZ motocrossers, that's what you might call a disclaimer.
When I talk about tuning I am talking about the guts of the forks, the internals, the springs, the valveing...
I'm not talking about the size of the fork itself.
Every fork set has to be set up for the riders weight, the intended travel, the weight of the motorcycle and if the rider intends to use it on the track, and the track itself.
The YZ 250 fork is roughly 2 inches longer than the stock Baghira fork, so guess what, the YZ fork might need to be shortened...though I've been thinking of a SM chopper Please don't respond to that statement.
A discussion about the pros and cons on rim selection would be really fun.

What kind of $$ are we talking about here? I'd love to get in on something like this, but I'm not a man of great means.

At last, a bearing and spacer kit off the shelf ...... now that is the kind of project help I need !

Just a thought, if you run the complete front end of the YZ you may as well have a rim laced to a YZ hub assembly..........I havent seen one but I'd bet a few quid that it is lighter than the HUGE casting fitted to the baggy as standard ! No issues with spacers, bearings etc if you did that.

What that would also do is open up off the shelf 320mm brake conversions for the YZ .....I'm sure there are people out there who do them, perhaps Talon ?

I have scoured ebay for some forks but no luck yet !

As far as i know the YZ250F front end is actually listed with the same steerer from 01-06, the 450 forks are probably the same. The reason i say these years is because the spacer kits we are making are to fit these model forks. Otherwise people might go and buy forks for our kits and they won't fit.

The listed bearings are the same size top and bottom from 01-06 YZ250F forks...hopes this makes it clear now. There are tons of these forks available and the clearance for the standard Baggy/Stiffy front MOTO wheel is just about doable!

If your suggesting 99-03 and 04-07 are different then our bearing listings from the Moto-X distribution is wrong...which, no disrespect, i doubt very much. All i know is if you go for the 01-06 forks then our kits will work and solve the conversion problem. If the forks are indeed a tad taller then dropping the forks through the yolk and use a bar-clamp riser will give you the adjustment required! You can also get an oversized clamp conversion to then fit FATBARS which is a bonus.

If you do buy a different fork you can supply me the bottom bearing ID(Internal Diameter) and the top bearing ID, i can then make the bearing spacers to fit with the correct bearing we supply...it's a bit of a pain but Roy can mock something up on the machines no problem.



AS for cost, that depends on how many sets i have made, i will let you know in the very near future...

Despite not being able to ride yet and being 'sensible' about spending further money on the Baggy until I can actually use it ..........put me down for a set of spacers

Whats the progress with the kits mate, any idea on cost and availability yet ?

By the way, I spotted a Beringer SM brake kit for a YZF on Fleabay. Just shows that kits are out there if you use the complete YZF fork, yoke and wheel hub in the conversion...... avoids all that nasty brake caliper bracket fabrication for those of us devoid of such skills !

Beringers are damn sexy bits of kit as well !

If anyone would need anything, while looking for a bearing for my car I ve sourced up a what it seems like a specialised bearing shop here in Malta. So if you need a bearing you cant find just get me the size and I'll ask if its available.
