Baghira front caliper

Hi All,

Just sorted changing the pads on the new Baghira and I've noticed the front caliper is siezed. The pistons are fine and free running but the caliper doesn't move on the bracket as it should to provide even braking on both pads if you know what I mean.

Anyone got a picture or instructions on what bits need removing and cleaning up to free it up?

Thanks for the info. As I see it the bracket (2) is fixed to the forks and the caliper (1) should slide on the pins (31&32). So you reckon I should ease back the rubber boots (12&16) and squirt some penetrating oil in there and then try to remove the pins (31&32) for a proper clean up?

YUP. The caliper should just slide on the pins. Get it all apart, grind of the rust and gunk, then lube it good with some water resistant grease, then do that everytime you change the front tire or happen to take take caliper off.

Hi Guys,

Thanks again for the info. I've had an evening on the spanners and found the culprit.

The seal on pin 31 had a slight nick in it which had obviously let in some water and then stopped it getting out again. The pin was well corroded. I soaked it in brake cleaner which dissolved some of the crud and penetrated well. Still took some shifting with a large screwdriver behind the shoulder on the pin and a hammer

Cleaned and greased it all up so it's rideable for now. I'll get a new pin and seal on order. Will only take a few minutes to change it out.

check also the pins 6 in top picture and/or 29 and 30 in bottom
picture as the pads move on them as well

rt125 has about same set up and the pins in mine need replaced next parts order
bad pits and ware
