Modified front end?

Postby gedge » Thu Jul 08, 2004 3:17 am

Has anyone managed to change the front of their Baghira and replaced the headlight and all the scaffolding that keeps it up?

I figure that this weighs a lot and so would be interested to hear if anyone else has managed to bin the lot. Photos would also be reallly helpful :?

Thanks. I eventually found a pic of his bike... Looks great but there isn't much detail showing. do you think he could post( or email me) a close up of the Mods so that I can have a better look? Imitation is the finest form of flattery!

I don't have a photo of phlat's bike... but here's the acerbis photos/info:

I may be interested in the original parts that you remove for this mod if you go through with it depending on what kinda $ you want - if you're willing to sell the stuff, of course.

That probably depends upon what the finished result looks like  If it turns out okay I might sell them otherwise I may keep them until trade in time ......Could be expensive to ship though.

check the pics, I cut the side panel suppurt tubes even,, moved the cap from the inside to the visible side. The headlamp is held on with the supplied rubber straps. made a harness, and zip tied it between the 2 bosses on the head tube so it does'nt catch when turning. there is not enough room to run the stock speedo, so I installed a Trailtech electronic speedo, which is great!

in one of the pics, you can see me holding up the wind deflector that came with the headlamp unit, I modified and installed 1 I got of a BMW650 at a motorcycle swap for $10.00. MUCH better wind protection, but still looks cool

mounted lockhart phillips flush moun turn indicators on the hand guards, drilled through and ran the wiring on the back side.

last weekend added the HID lamp setup in the larger reflector, and mounted the controller under the right sidepanel.

any questions?

Phlat,
Where did you get the Trailtech speedo? Is it illuminated? Is it like a bicycle speedo?- i.e. picks up the signal from a magnet you install on the front wheel, program the wheel diameter into it so its dead accurate. How much it cost? Do you like it? My speedo cable broke yesterday, I'm thinking about alternatives......

Phlat,
I just got off the phone with Trailtech, they have no idea which one to sell me. They need some more details.

How long is your cable? (I'll add 2" for my STD height)
How did the sensor mount? Screw to Caliper mount? Wire tie to fork leg?
What kind of magnet are you using? A magnetic disc bolt?

I hope you can help me out. They look like a good item to have....

got the universal, epoxyed the magnet to the right side of the hub, right at the spoke circle, and made a small "L" bracket for the sensor, bolted to the inboard axle pinch bolt, so the pickup is pointed at the magnet.

i will try to get some pics tomorrow for ya!
