I am the one that started the thread and I am semi in agreement with Keith. I bought and nor primarily ride my Mastiff because it is fun in tight stuff and awesome to ride around town. I have owned lots of fast bikes through the years and they always got me in trouble. I had a turbo CBR900RR that barely ran below 5,000 RPM and could throttle wheelie at an indicated 140mph way too fast for street riding.
I do admit I have been like a kid with a new toy with my GPS and one of the fun features has been top speed. On Saturday I went on a 260 mile ride though 100 miles of it was plain old boring interstate travel (50 miles each way) so that is when I am bored and play with top speed. The rest of the ride was very gnarly tight bumpy stuff. One more then one occasion I was three to four feet in the air cresting hills. We also rode maybe 30 miles fo dirt roads that were fun.
So yes top speed is not the reason to own an MZ but it is fun when you ar eon boring interstates.
