sidestand finish

Hi,

Next question or bit of advice. Has anyone done anything to their sidestand to give it a nice finish ? I did try last year polishing it on a buffer, with limited success. The other day I thought get the wire brush wheel out on a drill and try and tidy it. Think I will have to revert to spraying it or getting it chromed Anyone have any thoughts on this or done anything similar.. ?

nickle plate the thing

sidestands are a funny item on a bike ..

i never notice mine unless the interlock switch is bad ...or
the whole thing is missing when i go to park

then i just lean it against a wall

little trick i learned watching the trail bike riders
