What is the symptoms of blown seals?

Postby Blurredman » Tue Apr 19, 2016 2:33 pm

Hi guys!!

Glad the websites back! What happened to it?

I noticed my ETZ250/300 has recently got no oil in the box, I assumed it was just a typical loss and re-filled it. Now I notice that the spark plug smells of the transmission oil (standard 20w50), and there is a constant white smoke behind the bike if I am doing 50mph for any length of time, blue smoke otherwise.

It worried me that the smoke was white, and more importantly it wasn't disappearing like the blue smoke would after a while.

The bike was more smokey in general when just using it after filling the gearbox up, and the idle can be temperamental, especially when cold, a problem that only arose when I put oil in!

I'm thinking seals, what do you think guys?

Yup sounds like the seal on the clutch side has gone. It can be done without splitting the engine with care.
