Seized caliper bolt removal

Postby breakwellmz » Sat Feb 14, 2015 10:51 am

I had need earlier to get some intense localised heat on a seized caliper bolt/pin that had defied a long soaking in Plusgas and an impact driver!
I found a few seconds application of the flame from a Torjet windproof lighter from my local store to have the bolt free in no time.It has a flame like a mini blowtorch, is re-fillable, and only cost a quid!-Brilliant :D

thanks for the great tip.
Not all of us have access to oxy acetylene for a quick application
for red heat for a stubborn bolt.
Unfortunately that is too often what we have to resort to when the
rusthas progressed too far.
Again,thanks.
