MZ TS150 neutral light

Postby CindyChase » Sat Aug 16, 2014 12:53 pm

Hello everyone hope you are all well, Im Cindy I live in Kettering Northamptonshire and 26yrs old :3

I have inherited a MZ TS 150 1978 model from an Uncle who passed away recently. By looks of things he took very good care of it as it runs sweet and sounds great the only thing is that the neutral light doesnt light up. Ive never owned a MZ before so I know there is alot of learning to be done!

Ive read up that the switch can be adjusted but what I wondering is this;

• How do you adjust it and is it easy to do?
• Is the bulb in the clock easy to replace?
• Any other hints or tips you guys could give me a heads up on :3

Thanks for reading

Cindy

Hi Cindy
If you dont have a manual you can download one from
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bx6vEbR ... xjeHM/edit Download and open as a PDF
The bit you want is the bottom of page 22, and the top of page 23

To change the bulb you need to remove the circular clip round the bottom of the rubber boot that the clock is held in. Then push up on the drive cable and the clock will pop out. The bulbs are in carriers you just pull out. Sounds more complicated than it is! 10 minute job.

They are reliable little bikes, just keep it fed with petrol/oil mixed at 33:1 and you should be fine. Any problems there is a wealth of experience on this forum.

take care of it and it will serve you well as a daily driver and run about...winter is a bit hard but can be done,,with care..
tips from older cold weather drivers...
like
1 make sure some one is there if going some distance so you can get in and get warm..
2 bikes with drum brakes best in cold sloppy weather..if you get a disk brake froze you will understand when the bike will not move :D
3 do not go in cold weather unless its very important...
4 always watch the weather even in summer warm days can turn very cold at night if you forgot a coat..
i have left the house in a t shirt and 90deg F and returned in my full winter riding suit...
have fun

May I also add to Davids' list,

Make sure the carburetor is warmed before setting out. The front warms but can grip the slide.

It is no fun to have an engine which will not slow down approaching a junction.

It only happened once, but that was enough.

lube on the carb slide and pull cables is bad news as most of it will get stiff or freeze.
the mz was designed as a daily driver and should work ok in cold weather... my rt125 works ok
but getting one started below freezing is a chore
