Expansion chamber - ETZ 301

Postby Andy_C » Tue Mar 18, 2014 11:17 am

Does anyone have any experience of using the Expansion chamber available from Ost2rad on an ETZ 301 or a 250 ?, or know of any other sources of expansin chambers.

Just wondering as the original exhaust on my 301 is very tatty - I did clean it out with Caustic soda solution, but there is now somethig rattling inside. Given that and the fact that it looks very tatty I was wondering if it is worthwhile fitting one of the Ost2rad chambers.

I know that it is possible to cut open / repair the baffles clean out then weld back together the standard exhaust, but rather than mess around doingthat I could fit an expansion chamber.

Quite prepared to fiddle around with carb settings / timing etc if needs be if I was to fit an expansion chamber.

Over to you guys.....

Dont waste your money. Expansion chambers are great if you have a racing 2-stroke, and want your power over a narrow rev-band. If you want a rideable bike, spend another €15 or so and get a proper silencer.
ES250 Doppelport, ES250, ES250/1, ES250/2,ETS 250, ES150, ETS150, BK350, IWL Pitty, SR56 Wiesel, SR59 Berlin, Troll............ and thats just the German two strokes!

Seems to agree with I have read in other places - the standard silencer appears to be the best option for road use.

My etz 250 came with a "sporty" pipe on when I bought it, few people advised me to put a standard one on which I now have done. Bike performs much better now and sounds a lot better aswel.
