Leaking Carb on my 2002 Skorp Tour

Postby Nozz » Tue Mar 11, 2014 5:18 pm

I turn on my fuel and started up the bike for the first time in a couple of weeks today and there is fuel flowing freely from the bottom of the carburetor. I hope one of you can give me a cross reference to find a gasket kit locally to get this rig back on the road. I think it is a Keihin? THanks in advance.

If it's the float chamber gasket, MZ part# 9020218000 is Yamaha part# 5y1-14384-00. Depends what's leaking...

Thanks. I think that is a good guess/starting place. I was just going to jump on it and go to work. Will dig a little deeper in the morning... I appreciate the tip!

Have you tried tapping the carb (gently) with a small hammer? Sounds like a sticky float. Always worth a try before ripping things to bits

I have not tried that yet, but another expert friend mentioned the float. It is suddenly cold and windy as heck, so it may wait for another day. I appreciate the suggestions and info. Will let you know what i find out...

OK, it was the float. That seemed easy enough. Thanks for the tips. Next question; the fuel cap gasket seems to have stayed behind at a gas station somewhere along the line. Is that something that can be had with a cross reference? Thank you,
