ETZ 301 ELECTRICS

Postby Andy_C » Sun Mar 02, 2014 9:27 am

Firstly I have to say that am new to this forum and MZ ownership so apologies if I have broken any board protocol.

I recently bought a rough but complete ETZ 301 as a winter bike and am pleased to say that with minimal work I now have it running, I had always fancied one of these as a winter alternative to riding my T140 and or Sportster during the winter months, anyway back to the question.

As I say it runs really well, but the electronic Taho does not work. When you switch the ignition on the needle flicks backwards - is this normal ? I have checked the wiring for continuity between the rev counter and regulator and it all checks out. I have also pulled the plug from the rear of the counter and cleaned the contacts.

The charging light goes off when the revs are raised which makes me think that the wiring is correct as the wiring diagram shows the light wired in with one of the rev counter leads (-ve one I think).

It is fitted with the standard dynamo and electronic regulator - which is a PCB with discrete components on it - diodes etc - does anyone have a diagram that shows how the wiring connects to it as I cannot find any detail on this again as the charging light goes out I guess that everything is connected / functioning correctly.

One other question, the perspex faces on both the rev counter and speedo (mechanical) are cracked - does anyone know if these can easily be replaced ?

Hoping that someone may be able to help.

Cheers
