Flooding carb

Postby malcolm1081 » Wed Nov 13, 2013 9:02 am

Here's a challenge - My 250TS started flooding the carb. Carb dismantled, float needle cleaned and checked for free movement, floats checked for leaks, tabs set correctly. Same problem. New float needle assembly obtained from MZ shop and installed. Same problem . Fresh needle manufactured on my lathe, lapped in to body and reinstalled. Same problem. You can imagine I was a bit fed up by now. Drastic measures - purchased new carb from MZ shop. Same problem !!!!. Very carefully cleaned float needle assembly and all of carburettor, carefully refitted GREAT , problem solved. After around 100 miles flooding carb is back. A small amount of contamination found in the needle assembly thread so I have fitted an extra fuel filter in the line from the tank, carefully cleaned and assembled the carb once more. I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. Am I missing something?? Any Ideas welcome. MS
