TS250/1 with Vape regulator

Postby davebeef2001 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 4:37 am

Hi guys.
I wonder if someone can help. I just recently fitted an electronic VAPE regulator to my 6V TS250/1. The vague instructions advise to disconnect the wire of the variable resistor located at the dynamo or remove same altogether. Now as the resistor is part of a circuit removing it will lead to a break in the circuit. My question is do you leave this break in the circuit or bridge it together again with the wires that are left. The instructions do not confirm this.
Thanks in advance.
DB.

Hi, I fitted on of these to my Brother in Law's TS125 a couple of months ago. The instructions it came with seemed pretty detailed, but they were all in German. It took some finding, but I did eventually find the full English instructions on the PowerDynamo website.

Anyway, all you need to do is remove the resistor entirely, so it's pretty simple. If I remember correctly, the resistor is actually one half of a potential divider circuit, and was the mechanical regulator's way of providing the Dynamo windings with a reduced voltage. The electronic regulator presumably has all this built in.

It made a huge difference to the bike's electrics anyway. I'd recommend it.
