ETZ 251 Front caliper replacement

Postby thomaskwscott » Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:09 am

Hi Guys,

I have been having trouble with the front brake on my ETZ ever since i bought it. I remember someone saying that the caliper was a copy of a Brembo design and a bit of googling seems to show its the same as a BMW K75/K100. I am considering replacing the entire system with that from the BMW. Has anyone else attempted this?

Thanks

Tom

Check your brake pipe first, mine was very perished after 20 years, causing the brake to be very soft. Well worth replacing with a braided stainless teel hose.

try new line of good quality and new fluid

and some of the bmw line from 80 to maybe 84 look close
look at the ones that take a ebc fa18 pads as an aftermarket replacement
front brake lamp switch is the same as some of them also

Hi,
For what it's worth I have tried to replace the seal in my ETZ brake cylinder to no avail. It just pissed fluid everywhere. I replaced the brake line to braided and was going to replace the cylinder with an aftermarket one for a CB200.They can be purchased from WEMOTO along with the switch which I believe can be wired into the connectors in the headlight.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I had a careful look at the caliper over the weekend and it seems to be ok. I traced all the way up the line (i replaced this about 18months ago with a braided one) to the master cylinder and found it was still leaking despite the fact that i replaced the seals barely 2months ago. Anyone know of a replacement master cylinder for MZs?

Thanks

Tom

Brembo 10.4620.23 is the Brembo number for the item

look on this page for motoguzzi use // look at 1000cc bikes
