ts 125 speedo

my ts 125 (1985) has developed a very erratic speedometer, it flickers between about 15 - 70 ! it was ok a week ago, all connections seem ok, is it knackered ??
RE classic 500, 1951 Terrot etd, 1970 Gilera Autostrada, Vespa T5 and the Black Pig !
