Whilst doing an air filter service on the Mastif today, a couple of things struck me.Firstly-How small the air box seems in relation to the capacity of the engine .Secondly-How small the intake area is once the seat it fitted. Now,why is this?If the air box is a KTM part(and came as a `Job lot`with all the other KTM bits),it was designed for a smaller capacity engine than the Mastif, and it was also designed as a `dirt-bike `airbox with the obvious( water, mud.dust) ingress limitations that a dirt-bike airbox has.I assume that such an airbox also keeps intake noise down(important in getting through noise emission regulations!)The whole settup put me in mind of trying to run up a flight of stairs whilst only breathing through your nose!I see that the crankcase breather tube(again, appearing to be far too small) is a also vented into the airbox(those emission regulations again!?)I`m sure it could breathe better than this! Any thoughts and/or suggestions?
