electric vest use?

Postby 95SaxonTour » Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:15 pm

I put eighty miles on the saxon yest in 35 degree weather. Pretty
chilly for sure. Halfway into the ride I wished I had worn my
electric vest.

My question is: Will running my vest on this charging system fry
it? I have one of the first gen Widder vests and it works fine on
my other bike. In fact, I have put thousands of miles on my other
bike with both vest AND chaps plugged in without problems. The
suzuki did eat up a stator and rectimfryer at 35k, but thats about
par for the course with japanese bikes of that vintage.

Another question: If I run an led type 1157 bulb in the rear and
possibly change the headlight to a more efficient hid set up will
this give me the juice to power the vest and/or chaps?

Third question: How hard are the charging system components
to come by? In a pinch, could I use something from the other rotax
504 mass produced bikes (ie mt500, atk, armstrong)? I would think the
stator would be the same in all these bikes at least, right?

thanks,
Ryan
