Gasket sealent

Hello all, quick one, i'm putting the barrel and head back onto the crankcase of my ETZ125, before i sit the barrel down on the crankcase gasket should i smear some sealent along both sides of the gasket? cheers Vin

I usually put a very thin smear of orange sealant just round any transfer ports or oil/coolant passages when putting a barrel on, although the new gasket (should always use a new one) ought to be perfectly OK as it is. Your choice at the end of the day, but I'd say it can't do any harm as long as you don't lump it on.

Hello!

All joint-papers have to soak in oil or grease. If the surfaces (crankcase and barrel) are OK no problem.

For joint the half-crankcases I use Hylomar, this sealant is good and clean it after for new re-build is very easy.
