Idle adjustment on a Rotax 500 / Bing carb

Postby Nozz » Mon Aug 16, 2004 9:39 pm

The linkage on the carb body seems to be a little sticky. Is it OK to just spray it with WD 40 or should I use graphite powder or ??

hello
try the wd40 if it doesnt cure problem
at least it will go away after a while
the powder stuff stays around and get on every thing
ar dave

also check that choke is all the way off
and that the gas cable has some end play so its not setting the idle
when its all the way off

mine has 7300 miles on it now 5250 or so when i got it
it did not idle to well at first i dont think the first guy got it broke in

Is it the throttle cable(s) that's sticky, or are the levers on the carb sluggish? Follow Dave's advice about the choke and throttle cable play. But if it's in the carb, douche the outer levers and pivots with carb cleaner. Then remove the rubber boot between carb and air box, and clean the throttle plate, especially at the internal pivots.
