Laid up SX125 need help starting....

Postby jayded1 » Wed Jun 13, 2007 7:35 pm

I've just gotten my SX back from the local dealer after 18 months of being worked on. Lets not go there! It kept blowing mains fuses.
Now its back and it wont start, changed the plug and added new fuel.
Any ideas?

carb

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Wed Jun 13, 2007 9:51 pm

these 125cc bikes seem to loose the prime in the carb when they set a while

there is a cap on the air tube from the air box to carb remove it and open up carb and stick a small hose in past the carb and pump in about 10cc of fuel
well past the carb ..remove hose turn on the choke and crank for a bit with throttle closed ...
any open throttle does not let carb get a prime
may have to do this several time as it may start and die several times
before it starts and stays running
i use a jumper battery on the starter and let the on board battery run the coil
last time it took 2 or 3 min of cranking befor it started firing
but i did not do a pre prime
ar dave

18 months in shop i can see why your called jayed 1

after 50years i have found it best to keep the bike out of dealers shop
they seem to run better the farther you can keep them from the shop :-D

Finally I have my SX running! Now I need to get it running well. Thanks to Phil at Norton in the UK for supplying the spares as needed.
