take a look at the parts book break down
i think its similar to my rotax 500 rear end
and it can be a bit of a puzzle
dave

i had never seen one like it and it was a bit of fun the first time
i like what it does for sprocket and chain life
but winter service can take some serious shop time
so to save the pocket book it is something you need to make a do it yourself project

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply but the part that's a problem are the black bellows that cover the speedo and rev counter. I don't want to damage them as I expect they will be a bit harder as they are now 39 yrs old, a bit like me at 79 a bit brittle in places. I will have another go at them today. When I find out I am sure it will blinking obvious and you would think that over 30 years as a design engineer I should be able to sus it, but there you go. Anyway Dave Thanks take care Alan

Hi all, Sorted me problem with the instrument bellows, you just get hold of the drive cable and push hard vertically and the whole unit pops out of the top of the bellows. Wonderful!!! Then you can change the drive cable
Thanks Dave for your thoughts on the problem take care all Alan.

It's simple when you know how isn't it?

Took me ages to work it out too.. Infact, I had to look it up.

Hi, thanks for your reply, as you say when you know it's not a problem. I had the bellows and rev counter in my left hand and I thought i'll have a go at getting the cable through the split at the bottom. On pushing that area I noticed the counter started to emerge from the top of the bellows, wonderful, mind you I must admit why we didn't see it in the first place I will never know. Incidently way back I had a 500CX great bike. All the best take care Alan
