Skorpion Swing Arm

Hi Chaps,
Greetings from deepest Shropshire. The Skorpion swinging arm is a great heavy mediaeval thing and a half, which seems to be particularly prone to rusting. Has anyone ever replaced this with an alloy one? Surely there must be a Yamaha one which will fit? Any help would be appreciated.

Look through these web sites and you'll get some ideas. FZR (working on one now) and early R1(search the old MZ Yahoo group) versions can also be made to fit with some cutting for the center rear engine mount. Most are no lighter.

I'll do some research. Thank you for the leads. It's the only thing which lets the bike down, really. An alloy one, even if no lighter, would solve the rusting problem, and look a whole lot nicer, too! I've had the original bead blasted and powder coated, but the corrosion marks are quite deep.Thanks again, Les in England

I recently looked at a Skorpion here in the States with a Metmachex installed. I didn't ride it emough to feel any difference from my stock swing arm but the workmanship was quite nice. I think it was a bit longer than stock as well.

I fitted an SZR swing arm in my Skorpion.
Took me some work but the result is nice.
