MZ ETZ Saxon Sportstar 125 [PROBLEM]

Postby MZ JordanD » Mon May 26, 2014 4:03 am

Hey i just recently brought myself a MZ ETZ 125 and it had 12 months mot on it, and it rode fine for the first two days, then the first day on my commute to work the bike cut out so i put it into reserve to as i ran low on fuel and when i got to work i refilled the tank and it started first kick, after leaving work it had rained heavily, after kicking the bike over for 2 hours i had to phone for help, i tried everything possible to get it started i bumped it and it was in very low revs and the faster i ran the higher the revs went but as soon as i stopped it cut out, even with full throttle, when i got home i took the carb apart and it's very clean no blockages, the wiring in the bike seems to be very iffy to say the least, the ignition coil doesn't click in it just pushes into the socket, some of the battery wires are a little exposed and loose but i rode it the previous day in the rain and it seemed fine just when i stopped and let it sit it had this issue. The bike itself is very clean as you can see in the photo's any help would be much appreciated thanks, JordanD.

my 2002 rt 125 is nice but find the wires to be the major problem
the wires them selves are of poor quality the items they plug into seem to mostly work ok
its just bad wires and poor connections

dave

nice looking little bike should work good for you when you get the wires sorted

one of the big problems with electrical has been NO CLASSES on how it works when we went to SCHOOL

so the real problem is some one worked on it ....that probably did not know about electrical

Could the wiring really cause that much of an issue for the bike not to start and act the way it did? I'll have to find a dealer in the uk and replace any wiring that i can, but is there anything else it could be? or any suggestions i can put to use now so i can commute to work until i get the opportunity to get the wiring?

Thanks, JordanD

Little update, it's very dry at the mo, so i kicked it over i wasn't hopeful, but first kick it started so i rode it for about 20 minutes and it was fine, so it's down to water getting into somewhere for sure, just to find out where, we tried something but we won't know if it works until the heavy rain starts again, in England that's always a possibility haha, i'll update you when i know more thanks for the reply.
