TS125 gearbox settings

Postby ricklincs45 » Sun Dec 01, 2013 11:18 am

Hi All,

quick question regarding TS125 gearbox rebuild: have got everything in and want to set the 3rd gear measurement - Haynes says one thing, MZ manual says different, should I go with the MZ settings? (13.1mm, rather than 16mm in Haynes).

Thanks,

Rick

Hiya.
Did mine last week and couldn't get any more than 12mm but all seems to be selecting ok.
I'd say 13 is the correct figure if you can get it.

Thanks Ian,

can get enough movement to get +/- 13-16mm, but like you say, prefer to go with the MZ manual. Goodness knows where Haynes got their figure from, it's not like them to get odd bits wrong...

13mm? I'm sure they made that up.

I set them up so that there's a tiny bit of clearance underneath fourth when it's engaged. The Haynes describes setting that up fairly well, and it leaves the gears nicely meshed.

The same place they got their torque settings for the cylinder head - out of their fundament no doubt.

In a moment of blithe naivety I stripped a stud following their instructions.
