Hello all,
Ok, I've now finished my ES250/2 restoration, so what's the technique to
starting it ?
If I dont use the choke it wont start and it I use the choke it floods.

PS the carb has a new needle and seat, float level at 27mm and all looks good with very little wear
on the slide.

now that its flooded at least once make sure your getting spark and still have a good plug..
have you heard any noise from it that its trying to run a hit or 2 once in a while

Keep your hands off the throttle, cold start lever fully back, fuel on, ignition on, and kick.

even my 4 stroke 125 does not go on a cold start if you turn the throttle any when cranking
it is a habit you have to break on these bikes

Thank you all,
I re-checked the float level and found i was too high, I then
did what you said, no throttle and "voila"away she went.
What an amazing power band, just how much torque can a
250 put out, first gear is as tall as a Japanese bikes third.

Pitty the gear change is on the wrong side (sorry, I was brought up on English bikes)

you will get used to the shifter

and now fix it nice and keep it
you will be able to get parts for it for years to come

its the cost of shipping the parts that will kill your pocket
