How much slop is acceptable for the cush drive before replacement needed?

First check the sprocket bolts - mine loosened up slightly and it looked just like the cush rubbers were getting sloppy.
Catch it early to keep the hub from getting boogered up.
Sorry I don't have a spec. on allowable clearance on the drive....

Good point,even though my bolts are safety wired...I have(somewhere) a cush drive,just have to finde it in the mass of stuff in the shed argh!

i've looked Dave,some yamahas come close....not perfect though,Grahams has if needed

It's possible still - it can loosen without the nuts backing off.
The bent over retainers on mine were still engaged.
Easily checked by watching the outer hub center / sprocket for movement when rocking it in gear.....

yep thats how I checked it...rocking in gear, a bit of slop,maybe 1/16 inch
