ETZ 250 Electrics

Postby dwc » Thu Sep 01, 2011 1:07 pm

Hi,
I have started to catalogue the work required to get my new ETZ running and had a look at the electrics. Not my strong point. I dont have a manual yet, can anyone out there tell me what these parts are?

Regards DWC

Not an electrics man myself,
But top picture right to left, indicator flasher unit, replacement blade type fuse holder, Burwin's box, no idea, unless its got electronic ignition fitted, bottom picture standard mechanical regulator.

Someone should be along to explain in more detail.

Burwin's box, = electronic ignition or switcher to make points last longer( newtronic ???? maybe )

messy lot of stuff looks like it needs a good home and better care
and a good clean and tidy job done on it

Thanks,

Re the Burwins box if its electronic ignition I thought it would go where the points are/were.

Useful stuff. I intend to go through it wire by wire with a wire brush some new cable ends and rubbers and vaseline!!

Is it worthe replacing the mechanical do hicky?

Personally I would leave it alone if its working OK,
you can get a replacement electronic version if you need to.

re: Burwins box, this is probably a capacitor discharge system designed to give a better spark, by producing a higher input voltage to the ignition coil. Its triggered by the points, but uses a lower current which reduces spark erosion of the points, thus they last longer.

I have neutronic electronic ignition and its a much bigger unit than that. - It must be something else i rekon....

Email the photo to Martin at Burwins, he'll know what it is. ;-)
