ETZ 251 problem removing lefthand engine cover

Postby rossma49 » Sun Aug 01, 2010 12:00 pm

Hi - I need to remove the left hand engine cover from my ETZ251.
I've removed clutch cable and associated pieces, gear lever, oil pipes, oil cable and nut on the end of the crank.
I've successfully broken the gasket seal and the cover moves forward - but it will not come completely away. It moves forward about 2 or 3mm and then stops. It sounds as if it comes up against some obstruction neat the clutch release worm.
Any help please?
Thanks

Well, I thought someone would help with this.

Anyway, after trying heat and so on, I was advised by a friend to use a 'duck foot' puller.
The cover came off with the first gentle turn of the spanner on the puller centre nut.

Drama over!

Glad you got it sorted.
I could not offer any more help as I've never done that kind of work on MZ 2 strokes before, not needed to.
I find the best place for stroke advice is on the MZ_RIDERS yahoo group
