comment on chain replacement

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Sun Jul 11, 2010 9:53 pm

i just replaced the chain and sprockets on my 660 traveller
the chain i used was a 520 regular chain and esjot sprockets 15x43
no o-ring or x ring just a plain chain
and it smoothed out the running of the bike
and improved the in town slow speed use a lot
i do about 3000 miles a year and will just remove and grease it twice a year
i put the chain in a hot tank of grease after a good cleaning
close the lid and crank the air pressure up to about 100psi
should give it a good bit in the pins at least i hope so
will see what kind of use i get from it
i am not a hot rodder so should work good
dave
my dad had a home made chain greasing tank and i never tosssed it out
just replaced the grease
do not use a pressure washer any where near the chain if you use a plain chain

Hey Dave,
Planning similar chain change...how many links did you use? 114 or 110?
