ETZ125 running rich

Postby grasshopper » Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:58 pm

I just refurbished said bike (1989 model) after being off the road for a year. Not changed any of the settings but its now running rich. a bit smokey, black plug, harder to start. I cleaned muck out of tank and carb and fitted new petrol and 2-stroke oil pipes. Checked carb for correct needle jet setting. Cleaned air filter. Compression seems ok, mileage = 17,500m. The carb is type 22N2-2. Please could you advise me how to set up the carb and 2-stroke oil pump from scratch? Or offer any other suggestions? Many thanks.

Hello and wellcome! :smt006

Pilot screw: Turn in (don´t use excesive force) and turns out 1.5 .

Check the float is punctured (disassemble and shake it).

Check the ignition timing 2.5 - 3.0 mm. BTDC.

Air filter: dust close paper pores too soon (personally I don´t like).

Check the battery is full charge.

Oil pump: Aligns the pump marks. Try the minimun delay you roll the grip and carburator open gas.

Best Regards,
Manuel
