Saw a Marine, many years my younger, this last week walking up the stairs of the county building in the town that I live in, in formal uniform.
As I passed I wanted to say thank you for my freedom and the freedom for other countries, as many like him, have died for.
I have to state I was overwhelmed.
I don't even know his rank as I was fixed on the TWO rows of medals on his chest.
That's eight for his service to my country and freedom!
Many of our generation, don't take the time to think about where they live and who gave them their freedom as well as other countries in the world in the past hundred years.
At times, I lament my personal sacrifices and then think of those that have lost so much more.
They lost everything that they could have been.
They lost the chance to have a home, the giggling of little kids filling the air around them.
They lost the love and embrace of a wife, husband or loved one.
Dreams never realized and goals never met.
We have an obligation to them to be the best. To do and be the best that we can be.
NO EXCUSSES!

So very true, so many kids I talk to seem to wonder when life will "happen" to them.
Sending it to my kids.... seem to be repeating rule 1 on a daily basis

How true is that! Love it.
Common sense verses the PC Brigade.
Prepare our darings for life not Soap Opera.
Nice one.
